As patriots, our core principles, or what we believe, may be summed up in the word Americanism.
What is Americanism?
Americanism is defined and concisely stated in the first two paragraphs of The Declaration of Independence:
When in the Course of human Events, it becomes necessary for one People to dissolve the Political Bands which have connected them with another, and to assume among the Powers of the Earth, the separate and equal Station to which the Laws of Nature and of Nature’s God entitle them, a decent Respect to the Opinions of Mankind requires that they should declare the causes which impel them to the Separation.
We hold these Truths to be self-evident, that all Men are created equal, that they are endowed by their Creator with certain unalienable Rights, that among these are Life, Liberty, and the Pursuit of Happiness—That to secure these Rights, Governments are instituted among Men, deriving their just Powers from the Consent of the Governed, that whenever any Form of Government becomes destructive of these Ends, it is the Right of the People to alter or to abolish it, and to institute new Government, laying its Foundation on such Principles, and organizing its Powers in such Form, as to them shall seem most likely to affect their Safety and Happiness.

So what is a Republic? And what is meant by republicanism or a republican form of government?
The word Republic comes from the Latin words res (thing), and publica (public or people), and means the public (or the people’s) thing. So a republic is the thing (commonwealth or body politic with accompanying government) which the public creates. The two main features are rule by:
The Law: or in our case the Constitution, which is the Supreme Law and the Expressed Will of the People
And
Representation: rule by representative bodies and magistrates chosen by and emanating from the People
Definition of a Republic by the Framers:
In Federalist #39, James Madison states:
[W]e may define a republic to be, or at least may bestow that name on, a government which derives all its powers directly or indirectly from the great body of the people, and is administered by persons holding their offices during pleasure for a limited period, or during good behavior. It is essential to such a government that it be derived from the great body of the society, not from an inconsiderable proportion or favored class of it… It is sufficient for such a government that persons administering it be appointed, either directly or indirectly, by the people; and that they hold their appointments by either of the tenures just specified; .
The great Ends to which our founders directed the foregoing principles and form of government are the Safety and Happiness of the People.
No other nation in history has been so blessed, has prospered so greatly, and has afforded its people such liberty, opportunity, and security; and all because of what our founders gave us through the Providence of Almighty God.
